Many thought Gennady Golovkin would run through IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook and inch closer to a possible showdown against Canelo Alvarez.
Brook was competitive throughout the fight and had his moments Saturday, but Golovkin (36-0, 33 KO's) was able to pull through to defeat Brook (36-1, 25 KO's) by fifth-round TKO to retain the IBF and WBC middleweight titles to run his consecutive knockout streak to 23.

It seemed like the stoppage was a little early, as Golovkin started to land some vicious combinations to Brook and his trainer, Dominic Ingle, threw in the towel to stop the fight.
