Golovkin: If Mayweather wants fight, 'let's do it'

LOS ANGELES — Now that the so-called “Fight of the Century” is out of the way, there remains few mega matchups out there.

Well, how about another one involving Floyd Mayweather, this time against the only man people truly believe can beat him?

Gennady Golovkin, No. 2 on most pound-for-pound lists after Mayweather, defends his 160-pound title Saturday against Willie Monroe Jr. at The Forum on HBO. He owns the highest knockout ratio in middleweight history (just three boxers have went the distance) and he’s appeared unbeatable thus far. A matchup is unlikely with Mayweather aligned with Showtime and GGG with HBO, but the two networks did just get a deal done, and besides, Mayweather has only one fight with Showtime remaining.
