29-year-old South Korean golfer Sang-Moon Bae has won two PGA Tour events in his career, including the Frys.com Open this season, and is currently ranked 107th in the Official World Golf Rankings, and is the second-highest ranked Korean behind only Byeong-Hun. Bae is in Ontario to play in this week’s RBC Canadian Open — but he announced Wednesday that he will be returning home to South Korea soon to complete his mandatory military service. He had been seeking an extension on his overseas travel visa, but a local court denied the extension.

“Earlier in the day, the Daegu District Court ruled that the local branch of the Military Manpower Administration (MMA) in Daegu, some 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, took an appropriate course of action when it refused to extend the overseas stay for Bae Sang-moon, a two-time PGA Tour winner who had hoped to delay his military service.
