David Feherty is the clown prince of golf. But like fictional TV gangster Tony Soprano, the 57-year-old host of the Golf Channel's "Feherty" has been the Sad Clown for most of his adult life.
On the outside, he was the life of the party — and funniest character in the hushed, white-shoe world of TV golf. On the inside, the bipolar alcoholic was battling his addictions to whiskey and painkillers — as well as crippling mental depression that often left him a crying mess.
After growing up outside Belfast in war-torn Northern Ireland, Feherty joined the European Tour at age 18 and lived the life of a rock star.
