Talk to any Yankee player these days — especially their pitchers — and they’re likely to start raving about Gio Urshela, the newcomer who was summoned as an emergency call-up but has turned into a magic-maker at third base.
Soft hands at third? Fast-twitch reflexes? A heavy-duty bat? Not only does Urshela check every box, but while the Yankees have been propping him up as a potential Gold Glove candidate, he has officially become a difference maker in the ninth inning, too.
Urshela blasted a game-tying, two-run home run before the Yankees finished off a 5-4 come-from-behind victory against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.
