NEW YORK — The last time the Giants won a game, gasoline cost $2.24 a gallon, Donald Trump was merely the presumptive Republican nominee for president and the baseball world was eagerly anticipating Giancarlo Stanton’s appearance in the home run derby.
OK, so July 10 isn’t really all that long ago, but first-place San Francisco lost its sixth straight game Friday night, a 3-2 verdict to the Yankees, and you can really feel the tension building in the Giants’ locker room. The situation was made all the worse by Buster Posey having to leave the game after he fouled a ball off his top foot and suffered a contusion, which sounds terrible.
