Giants owner John Mara said Sunday that the NFL has a long way to go before it fully understands the issue of brain damage as a result of playing a violent sport.
Speaking before the start of league meetings this week in Boca Raton, Fla., Mara told reporters he was stunned concussions increased by nearly 32 percent last season, according to data published earlier this year.

"There's no secret that repeated concussions can have a very serious long-term effect [on players]," Mara said via ESPN.
