Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto was hit in the head by a line drive off the first pitch of Monday's spring training game against the Athletics, but proceeded to pitch three innings before being taken to a hospital to be evaluated under the Giants' concussion protocol.
Making just his second start of the spring after signing a six-year, $130 million contract this offseason, Cueto got beaned on a comebacker off the bat of Billy Burns. Cueto seemed unfazed and even laughed off the situation while trainers visited the mound. He was allowed to remain in the game and gave up three runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.
