Days after the Giants’ 2015 regular season ended, John Mara, one of the team’s co-owners, declared the roster undertalented, and he soberly put the onus for rebuilding the team on General Manager Jerry Reese, the architect of the current roster.
On Wednesday, the restructuring began when the Giants cut two starting players and a veteran player retired before he would have been released. Each player had been brought to the team by Reese.
Tackle Will Beatty, once considered a cornerstone of the offensive line, and guard Geoff Schwartz, who was Reese’s major free-agent acquisition of 2014, were released.
