Giants 27, Cowboys 20: Dwayne Harris’s Kickoff Return Helps Giants Erase Feeling of Impending Doom

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The Giants had been leading most of the second half Sunday when the Dallas Cowboys charged back to tie the game on a circus catch in the end zone roughly midway through the game’s final quarter.

The MetLife Stadium crowd, roaring and on its feet only minutes earlier, fell silent and slumped in their seats. They knew the Giants history of fourth-quarter collapses this season.

But on the ensuing kickoff, the Giants’ Dwayne Harris caught the ball at the goal line and raced untouched 100 yards for a touchdown. It was the Giants first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2012, and Harris’s 100-yard dash tied the franchise record for the longest kickoff return set by Clarence Childs in 1964.
