The third quarter began with a glimmer of hope for T.C.U. — it got its first third down stop of the game on Georgia’s first drive. But all it was glimmer that quickly faded, as T.C.U. was punting the ball on its next drive after three unsuccessful plays.
A sign of just how poorly things were going for T.C.U. showed on that drive when the Horned Frogs’ starting quarterback, Max Duggan, slipped on a designed run and was quickly wrapped up. Duggan had dominated defenses on those kinds of plays all season, often trucking defenders and scoring touchdowns.
