Duke assistant coach Jeff Capel and Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga are early targets as Georgia Tech begins finding a replacement for fired men's basketball coach Brian Gregory, ESPN.com reported, citing multiple unidentified sources.
Capel, 41, has been on coach Mike Krzyzewski's staff since 2011 after the former Blue Devils player was fired for going 83-69 in five seasons as Oklahoma's coach. The highlight of his Sooners tenure was reaching the Elite Eight in 2009 with Blake Griffin leading the way. Capel was 79-41 in four seasons as VCU's head coach before taking the Oklahoma job.
