Georgia Tech lineman to skip senior season with eye on NASCAR role

Georgia Tech offensive tackle Eason Fromayan is planning to forgo his final season of eligibility to fulfill his dream of working on a NASCAR pit crew, ESPN.com reported Wednesday.

Fromayan’s last game with the Yellow Jackets will be the TaxSlayer Bowl against Kentucky on Dec. 31.

The 6-4, 285-pound Fromayan has the size to be a gas man or jack man, according to the report.

The lineman’s foray into NASCAR is more the rule than the exception. About 35 to 40 percent of NASCAR pit crew members are former football players, one NASCAR coach estimated.
