GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Phil Jackson stepped to the lectern at about noon Tuesday and said, “I’m here to speak about nothing that I can speak about.”
But then Jackson did speak, in his own way, about the N.B.A. draft, scheduled for Thursday night at Barclays Center. And about the No. 4 pick, which the Knicks own. And about Carmelo Anthony, who has been working out at the team’s training complex. And about the possibilities that exist for the team moving forward, and his role in it all.
Jackson, who spent 20 minutes fielding questions from reporters who regularly cover the team, was asked to define what he does, given the wide-ranging responsibilities he has ceded to Steve Mills, his general manager.
