Furniture Row Racing has made some big, bold moves in recent years, landing first Kurt Busch and then Martin Truex Jr.
It bagged another big one Sunday, announcing the signing for young phenom Erik Jones to drive a second Sprint Cup car for the team in 2017. Jones, a 20-year-old development driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, will drive the No. 77 Toyota with sponsorship from 5-Hour Energy.
The 2015 Camping World Truck Series champion, has three Xfinity Series win this season and is fourth in points. He is considered one of NASCAR’s top young talents. JGR has no room for him on its Sprint Cup roster, however, with Cup champion Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards all under contract for the Cup Series.
