Courtney Force, one of NHRA's most popular drivers and a member of the first family of Funny Car racing, escaped serious injury after a crash Sunday in the first-round eliminations at the NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Seattle.

Force, 28, lost control a third of the way down the quarter-mile strip in her race against Jeff Diehl, veering sharply to her left and slamming hard into the concrete retaining wall that was moved several feet by the force of the impact.
