Vincent Kompany sparked fresh concerns about his fitness on Wednesday night by pulling out of Belgium’s starting lineup at the last minute.
Kompany was named in Roberto Martinez’s starting XI for the game against the Netherlands in Amsterdam but was withdrawn shortly before kickoff after alerting medical staff that he had felt some discomfort during the warm-up.
It is believed the City defender has suffered a minor muscle problem and will miss the World Cup qualifier against Estonia on Sunday.
It represents yet another setback for the injury-plagued center back who has struggled to break into Pep Guardiola's team this season.
