Stan Wawrinka upset Novak Djokovic in the French Open on Sunday, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, winning the second Grand Slam event of his career.
Wawrinka, 30, the eighth seed from Switzerland, had won the Australian Open in 2014, but had otherwise never made a Grand Slam final until Sunday.
He also denied top-seeded Djokovic a career Grand Slam. Djokovic has won five Australian Opens, two Wimbledons and a United States Open, but never the French.
Before Sunday, Wawrinka has won just three times in 20 tries against Djokovic.
Wawrinka beat his countryman Roger Federer in straight sets in the quarterfinals before topping Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semis.
