The Columbus Crew, Houston Dynamo, San Jose Earthquakes and Sporting KC all have new players to negotiate contracts with after making selections in Stage 2 of the MLS re-entry draft Thursday.
Players in the re-entry draft met a certain requirements to allow their rights to be selected in the draft. Unlike in the first stage, where players contracts are automatically picked up, the second stage allows negotiations between the player and a team. If the player does not agree to the deal, the MLS side retains their rights in the league.
The Columbus Crew selected defender Josh Williams, 28, from Toronto FC with their first selection before passing on their second.
