Barcelona — The Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday was a throwback to the kind of classic races that Formula One has almost always had at the track in Montmelo, just outside Barcelona: There was little action and little overtaking; the entire race was about strategy, like a game of chess.
Thanks to a poor start by Lewis Hamilton, who has won three races already this year, it was his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, the German driver who had taken pole position, who walked away with the race, adding some intrigue to the season.
It was Rosberg’s ninth career victory, his first in Barcelona, and his first since the Brazilian Grand Prix last year.
