Former Virginia receiver suing school over hazing rituals

A former University of Virginia football player has filed a lawsuit against the school, claiming a hazing ritual left him with a broken eye socket.

Aidan Howard signed a letter of intent with Virginia earlier this year, but left school a month after arriving on campus. In a federal civil rights lawsuit filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Pennsylvania, Howard alleges the university "fostered a culture of bullying, abuse, harassment, and discrimination."

The 6-4 freshman receiver was receiving additional academic support because of a learning disability and claims he was bullied and mocked by teammates after they learned of his academic difficulties, especially when they translated to Howard having trouble understanding the playbook.
