Former UTEP player, college coach charged with making bomb threat at school

A one-time promising young college basketball coach who had played at UTEP was arrested Monday in Utah after police allege he threatened to blow up an elementary school, the El Paso Times reported.

Chris Craig, who was a guard for the Miners from 2002-04, reportedly has struggled with mental illness for years.

He sent a lengthy email to the Times before the incident began at Eagle Valley Elementary School in Eagle Mountain, Utah, about 30 miles west of Provo.

At 2:13 p.m. MT Monday, Craig called dispatchers and claimed to have explosives in the trunk of his car near the school, the Utah County Sheriff's Office reported.
