Argentine Roberto De Vicenzo has died at the age of 94 in his home country. De Vicenzo was a major winner and a World Golf Hall of Fame member, but he will be best remembered for something that contributed to neither cause. De Vicenzo might be the most famous runner up in a major championship in the history of golf.
At the 1968 Masters, De Vicenzo shot a 11-under 277 including a final round of 65 to tie Bob Goalby and get into a playoff. One problem. He signed his scorecard -- which playing partner Tommy Aaron had been keeping -- for a 66 on that day.
