Former Illinois head coach Tim Beckman now volunteer assistant coach at UNC

Former Illinois head coach Tim Beckman is now a volunteer assistant coach at North Carolina, the Champaign New-Gazette first reported on Tuesday. UNC officials confirmed Beckman’s position on Wednesday.

Beckman as fired from his job with the Fighting Illini last August after an investigation concluded that he has been mistreating players. According to the findings of the investigation, Beckman attempted to “deter injury reporting” and “pressured players to avoid or postpone medical treatment and continue playing despite injuries.”

UNC head coach Larry Fedora previously worked with Beckman in 2007 at Oklahoma State.
