A former college and CFL head coach is under consideration to join Butch Davis’ staff at Florida International University.
A source told Sporting News that Dan Hawkins has spoken about a position at FIU with Davis, who was signed Monday to a five-year contract.

Hawkins, 56, previously served as head coach at Boise State (2001 to 2005) and Colorado (2006 to 2010). After a three-year hiatus from coaching, Hawkins returned to the sideline in 2013 with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes.
