It shouldn’t really have been unexpected. An unusual race on Monday was halted late because of fog on the backstretch – obliterating the spotters ability to see all of the 2.5-mile track.
The caution came out and drivers waited for the clouds to lift in the race that had already been postponed from Sunday and then delayed early on Monday morning. The red flag finally came out with 22 laps to go.
