Before the current NHL season, Snider told the Philadelphia Inquirer his cancer had returned, but he did not want his condition publicized. Instead, he wanted the focus to remain on the Flyers.
Snider was an executive with the Philadelphia Eagles when he and Jerry Wolman, the owner of the NFL franchise, worked to bring an NHL expansion team to Philly for the 1967-68 season.
