Tacoma (United States) (AFP) - Five outstanding points about Chambers Bay golf course, Tacoma, the venue of the 115th US Open starting on Thursday:-

- The par-70 course has two holes - 1 and 18 - that can change daily from par-4s to par-5s. But for the US Open if one is a par-4 then the other is a par-5, maintaining the overall par at 70

- The course was only opened eight years ago on the site of a disused sand and gravel quarry.
