For the 19th consecutive year, the Liberty, one of the W.N.B.A.’s original franchises, will end the season without a championship banner.
After a convincing win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals, the Liberty blew an 18-point lead on the road in Game 2 and fell to the Indiana Fever, 66-51, at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday to end the series.
Marissa Coleman led the Fever with 15 points, all on 3-pointers.
The Liberty last made the W.N.B.A. finals in 2002 and were looking to secure their fifth appearance over all. The Fever will travel to play the Minnesota Lynx in Game 1 on Sunday.
