Mariners ace Felix Hernandez was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a strained right calf, the team announced.
Hernandez was disabled retroactive to May 28, which means the right-hander will be eligible to return June 12. He'll miss two starts if that timeframe holds.

This is just the third time in his career that Hernandez will be on the DL, and his first trip since 2008.
Left-hander James Paxton, once a top prospect for the Mariners, was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to fill the roster spot.
