Feds rip Lance Armstrong in latest fraud case briefing

The U.S. Justice Department released documents Monday outlining its fraud case against former seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong.

At stake is nearly $100 million in total damages, much of which is on behalf of the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), Armstrong's long-time sponsor.

USA Today obtained the 59-page scathing report, which calls Armstrong “a doper, dealer, and liar.” The briefing is in response to Armstrong's attorneys last April asking to have the lawsuit dismissed.

The heart of the issue is how much damage USPS suffered as a result of the global doping scandal, which Armstrong has confessed to being a central figure in while riding for the Postal Service.
