The FBI's investigation into a noose discovered in the garage of NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace this past weekend found that Wallace was not the target of a hate crime, NASCAR announced Tuesday.
The report revealed evidence that the noose was in Talladega Superspeedway's garage No. 4—the garage Wallace was assigned—as early as October 2019, U.S. attorney Jay E. Town and FBI special agent Johnnie Sharp Jr. said in a joint statement.
According to NASCAR's statement, the garage door pull rope fashioned like a noose had been positioned there since at least last fall.
