Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon has been downgraded to out for his team's road game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday with a right ankle injury.
Mixon didn't practice all week and was listed as doubtful before the downgrade. He suffered the injury after a tackle from Chicago Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards in the third quarter of the Texans' 19-13 victory in Week 2 on Sunday.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans told reporters afterward that he believed Edwards used the now-banned "hip-drop" tackle on Mixon. No penalty was called at the time.
