During Friday night's White Sox-Rays game at Tropicana Field, a woman was struck in the eye area by a foul ball off the bat of Tampa Bay DH Steven Souza. After a delay, she was removed on a stretcher and taken to a hospital. At present, there has been no word on her condition.
Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that, although upgraded protective netting is in place, the ball made it through a triangular opening designed for television cameras.
