Ezekiel Elliott may be the Cowboys' running back of the future, but that doesn't mean he's oblivious of the great backs who precede him in Dallas.
That's why the Ohio State star, when choosing his new jersey number, actively avoided taking No. 22, the same number former Cowboys great Emmitt Smith wore. He said it would have been disrespectful, and took on No. 21 instead.

"Really wasn't any meaning. I like the No. 21. If I could, I would've kept 15," Elliott told the Dallas Morning News.
