Ex-Stanford swimmer convicted of rape released from jail

Brock Turner, a former Stanford University swimmer who was sentenced to six months in county jail after being convicted of sexual assault last year, was released from jail on Friday after serving half his sentence.

Turner was charged with five felonies in February 2015, which included rape of an intoxicated person, rape of an unconscious person, sexual penetration by a foreign object of an unconscious woman, sexual penetration by a foreign object of an intoxicated woman and assault with intent to commit rape and was subsequently released on $150,000 bail.

In June, Turner was given a six-month sentence, along as well as three years supervised probation.
