Ex-MLB player wins year’s supply of beer with homer in Japan

Brandon Laird, who mustered just six home runs and a .197 batting average in three MLB seasons, is having much better luck in Japan.

The former Yankees and Astros infielder, now a member of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, jacked a solo home run Tuesday night against the Orix Buffaloes that hit the Kirin Beer sign over the left field seats, winning him $10,000 and a year’s supply of beer.

“I think it’s pretty cool when they tell you if you hit the signs you get a prize like that,” Laird said, via The Japan Times.
