During 2017 MLB All-Star Game, somebody at Fox had a great idea to give players a wireless earpiece so they could be interviewed while actually playing in the game. It gave us funny moments like Bryce Harper discussing the Cowboys and heartwarming moments like George Springer using the opportunity to inspire kids who stutter. It was such a great idea that ESPN copied it for spring training broadcasts the following year and has been doing it ever since.
But until Wednesday, the mid-game on-field interview had been limited to spring training exhibitions.
