El Shehaby, a judoka from Egypt, refused to shake hands with his opponent after losing in the Rio Games on Friday. His opponent, Or Sasson, is Israeli.

The International Olympic Committee said El Shehaby's actions, which also included him barely engaging in the mandatory post-bout bow toward his opponent (a handshake is not mandatory), cannot be tolerated and will be investigated.
