Alex Bowman is an easy man to accommodate. In his second go-round as a replacement driver for Dale Earnhardt Jr., Bowman also is proving his capabilities.
Starting in practice Friday at Michigan, Bowman showed speed and command in Hendrick Motorsports' No. 88 car. A day of hot laps, with 10 drivers going more than 200 mph, was no problem. In qualifying, Bowman too had bettered 200. And his lap speed of 201.207 put him sixth on the starting grid for Sunday's Pure Michigan 400.
