Paul James rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns, and visiting Rutgers beat Army, 31-21, on Saturday to end a four-game losing streak.
The Scarlet Knights (4-7) had a season-high 24 players listed on the initial injury report, including five offensive linemen, and Josh Hicks, who switched from tailback to safety, did more than his share in a new role. Hicks, one of the leading rushers on the team, had a fumble recovery and sealed the victory with an end-zone interception with 5 minutes 22 seconds left. He also finished with six solo tackles.
With one game left, at home against Maryland, Rutgers could finish with five wins and could be in the hunt for a bowl game if there are not enough traditionally bowl-eligible teams to fill the 41 on the schedule.
