Duke loses chance to upset Louisville on dodgy roughing the kicker call

Duke was about to do the unthinkable: hold No. 6 Louisville to a field goal and get the chance to upset the Cardinals.

The ACC referees thought otherwise. Down 17-14 with a shade over two minutes left in the game, the Blue Devils recorded two tackles for loss to set up a 46-yard field goal for Louisville kicker Evan O'Hara. O'Hara missed the kick wide left, but Duke cornerback Breon Borders was flagged for a roughing the kicker penalty.

Borders' penalty was questionable at best.

The missed kick would've given the Blue Devils the ball on Louisville's 36-yard line with two minutes and two timeouts to get a touchdown for the win, or at the very least, tie it up with a field goal, but the penalty essentially sealed Duke's fate.
