The Anaheim Ducks have parted was with young defenseman Simon Després after announcing they would buyout the remaining four years of the five-year/$18.5 million dollar contract he signed in 2015.
Després came to the Ducks via a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2014/2015 season.
In 16 games with the Ducks after the trade, Després impressed with one goal and five points earning himself the five-year deal. However, he played just 32 games due to injury the following season and was limited to just one game in the 2016/2017 season due to serious issues arising from a concussion he suffered in the team’s season opener against Dallas.
