RIO DE JANEIRO — There is hope, in the midst of the happenings here, that we could soon see the Summer Olympics land in the United States for the first time since 1996. That’s because Los Angeles has put together a strong bid to be the host in 2024, which would be the 40th anniversary of the last time L.A. had the Games.
There’s one concern, however, making its way around the International Olympic Committee’s decision-makers: the rhetoric of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. It turns out Trump might not be making America’s Olympic bid all that great again.
