Dolphins adding 2-time Super Bowl champion linebacker, per report

The Miami Dolphins are adding former Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints linebacker Willie Gay Jr. on a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Gay, 27, is the third linebacker to receive a deal from the Dolphins in the last week along with K.J. Britt, formerly of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Tyrel Dodson, who was re-signed after finishing 2024 in Miami. Those three will likely compete for a starting role next to Jordyn Brooks.

That job belonged to David Long Jr. at the start of the 2024 season, but he struggled in Anthony Weaver's system and was eventually benched and later released by the team.
