Diamondbacks All-Star outfielder Corbin Carroll missed the remainder of Thursday’s 9–0 home loss to the Mets after sustaining an apparent shoulder injury in the seventh inning.
Carroll, a favorite to win NL Rookie of the Year, appeared to be in noticeable pain after grabbing his right shoulder following a swing in his third at-bat of the night. The standout rookie took off his helmet before being led into the clubhouse by a team trainer while holding his arm.
Carroll’s unfortunate exit added to an all-around off night for the NL West-leading Diamondbacks (50–38), who will head into the All-Star break with questions surrounding the health of the 22-year-old first-time All-Star.
