Kentucky forward Derek Willis, a key member of the Wildcats’ 2016 Southeastern Conference championship team, was arrested Saturday for public intoxication and spent several hours in jail before being released on bail.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville cited the arrest citation issued to Willis as stating he was found “laying in the middle of the street” in Union, Ky., which is 17 miles south of Cincinnati. A Boone County sheriff’s deputy found Willis outside the open door of a vehicle at 4:57 a.m. Saturday. The deputy said Willis told him he’d had “a lot” to drink. He was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and was released after eight hours when his $50 bail was posted.
