The bill is called the “Save America’s Pastime Act.”
It’s possibly the most misleading name since someone thought to slap the term Rocky Mountain Oysters on fried bull testicles. Come to think of it, the Save America’s Pastime Act is a load of bull … something.
The aim of this bill, introduced on Wednesday by U.S. Reps. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) and Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.), is to make sure minor-league baseball players remain exempt from our country’s federally mandated minimum-wage standards (as is currently the case based on MLB’s long-standing antitrust exemption).
That’s it. That’s the entire goal of the bill.
