Derek White is — or likely, was — a NASCAR driver. That doesn't mean he was a regular, a guy who was at the track every week with a microphone shoved under his nose.
Rather, White was a part-timer and back-marker driver in lesser NASCAR series from 2009 until this year. He made one start in Sprint Cup, starting 42nd and finishing 39th at New Hampshire last year. White completed 290 of 301 laps, further evidence of his insignificance in that race.
A check of career statistics shows White also made 22 starts in five years on the Xfinity Series circuit, including 127 laps at Las Vegas last month.
