Gregory-Portland ISD opened it's brand new ballpark in style on Tuesday.
The G-P baseball team overcame an early deficit and then starter Blaine Elizalde put it in cruise control as the team opened Wildcat Park with an impressive 7-1 win against Ray.
Elizalde threw the first pitch in the park over for a strike and even though the Texans scratched a run across in the top half of the first inning, the Wildcats answered with two in the bottom of the frame on a liner from Reed Dooms and never trailed afterward.
Jaymen Galvan recorded the first G-P hit in Wildcat Park and Elizalde earned the win with 5 u2154 innings of three-hit one run ball, striking out six in the process.
